Mark

There is nothing like the dignity of a job, and no one is prouder of the work that he does than Mark. He came to Curative’s Commercial Services through the Wauwatosa School District’s high school transitional program. Although he had very little work experience, Mark was determined to learn new skills and become a valuable member of Curative’s Landscaping Crew.

Mark just needed someone who would give him a chance to prove himself. Then he met Joe, a supervisor at Curative. Joe and Mark worked side-by-side, starting with simple landscaping tasks and later moving into learning how to operate all of the equipment, including the zero turn mowers. “Joe was really patient and taught me a lot about landscaping,” shared Mark.

“When I first started here, I was not very confident that I could do the job and now I am a professional.”

Joe shared that of all the clients that he has worked with, Mark was the one who really caught on fast. “It is really satisfying to see him being independent and taking direction,” said Joe. “He is now one of our lead workers who willingly shares what he has learned with the new hires.”

Mark said that having a job at Curative has helped him set his dreams in motion. He is looking forward to getting his own apartment and to one day owning his own home where he can use the skills that he learned at Curative to make sure that his yard always looks like it has been professionally landscaped.
